I'd say loose groups are a fact of life with short barrels.The Coleman Performance Kit is the easiest way to get more power out of your stock engine. It's a contentious issue, but I'm definitely seeing much better accuracy and tighter groupings with the AUG over the G36C (both with Guarder hop rubber) which can only be thanks to a longer tight-bore barrel. I switched from the G36C to the AUG (Both JG, but the AUG has the new upgraded mechbox) for several reasons, part of which was that I wanted to have at least twice the barrel-length while maintaining a similar body-length. You might have seen my preview of my AUG A3 buried in vtec's review of the mechbox of the same. They generally seem to need a little more persuasion. That hop rubber does work wonders with the slower, heavier bbs because less velocity is lost. Well, it'll be more accurate at any range, for sure, but you can also enhance that by switching to slower but steadier. Did you notice much change in consistency (re:grouping) when you changed the hop-up? i occasionally get the odd stray round which veers off target by a good bit. It might also be worth putting in metal bushings, but it may already have these. Other than that, if you are going 9.6, it's a good idea to open the gearbox and check the shimming, re-shimming it where required to get a nice smooth running box.

This now means that instead of half pull = single shot, full pull = full auto, there is an extra "feature" at 3/4 pull where I get a slower than usual full auto because the contacts are pitted. If you are gonna go with a 9.6v battery I'd recommend installing a mosfet, especially on something like the Aug which has a two stage trigger, I previously only would have said mosfet for higher voltage above 9.6, but having run 9.6v in my p90 for about 6 months without a mosfet, I was doing some maintenance on it one day and discovered the trigger contacts are starting to burn out. Are you happy with the current fps and rof? Is there any reason to change them other than "just cause" If it ain't broken don't fix it is my opinion. The Guarder clear hopup rubber is commonly held to be the best rubber around for 1J guns, it's nice and soft for it.Īs regards upgrading anything else.

Should I change the piston & bushing as per this thread?Īlso, if I go for a 9.6V battery for the Steyr is there anything I should upgrade to avoid damage in the gun? I know some don't believe in upgrading clones like JG but i'd prefer to do so. Is there anything else I should definitely upgrade on these two guns? I presume both of these would suit the two guns or is the Guarder only for TM+clones? Which is best of these two or is there much difference? What do I need to change exactly? Is it just the bucking or do I need to change the "hop up cushion"? From what i've read the place to start with both guns is a hop up change. I want to do some minor upgrades on a JG G36C and CA Steyr Aug.
